Ice hockey goes home
2008 is a big year for ice hockey – the year when the IIHF World Championship goes home to Canada, the birthplace of the sport, the year when the IIHF celebrates its Centennial.

From May 1 -18th, this landmark event - the biggest single winter sports event in the world - will take place in the cities of Halifax (Metro Center) and Quebec (Colisée). The participants will be the top teams from Europe and North America and the 56 matches are forecast to attract a world-wide television audience of more than 700 million cumulative. The event will be preceded by the Division I tournaments in Innsbruck/Austria and Sapporo/Japan, from April 13th – 19th 2008, which will also be widely televised.
