Arsenal vs Manchester City

Arsenal and Manchester City football clubs came head-to-head for a ‘Super Match’ on 10 August 2013 in the Helsinki Olympic Stadium, Finland. Through fully comprehensive services, Infront delivered a sell-out event that marked the first time in history that two top English Premier League teams played at the Finnish football venue.

Delivering a historic event

The two spectacular football squads – Arsenal and Manchester City, ranked second and fourth in the 2012/13 Barclays Premier League – took to the pitch for the ‘Super Match’ friendly to conclude pre-season preparations. Serving as Tour Operator, Infront marketed sponsorship and distributed media rights to the event in the Nordic market, as well as handled all operative aspects of the event, from team logistics to event management and implementation. The international sports marketing company worked in close collaboration with sports business expert and entrepreneur Harry “Hjallis” Harkimo as well as Swedish agency Sport & Evenemang.

Connecting Finland to the best of European Football

The match was hugely beneficial for fans and also offered extended opportunities for commercial partners: Carlsberg Group’s Sinebrychoff beer was main domestic sponsor and other partners included Clear Channel (outdoor advertising) and Edita (printing company). In addition, the City of Helsinki took the role of institutional partner. Finnish National TV channel YLE managed the host broadcast operations with the event broadcast to over 100 countries. Thanks to the significant international reputation of Arsenal and Manchester City, media interest was high. For the business community, the ‘Super Match’ held particular appeal - connecting Finland to the best of European football and offering the ideal atmosphere to welcome both international as well as domestic clients and partners.
