Chinese Basketball League

Infront Asia, has formed a joint-venture with the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) to undertake a major marketing and re-branding of the CBA Professional League. It’s the first time that an international sports marketing company has formed this kind of long-term partnership with a Chinese sport to realise shared objectives.

New league, new start

Starting in 2006 the CBA Professional League consists of 16 teams, strategically located in key cities of China. Spectator attendances at CBA league fixtures were over 82% across China last year. Every game is shown live within it's region, including two weekly nationally televised games on CCTV 5 and one on Shanghai Dragon TV.

 

The Chinese Basketball League’s partnership with Infront is structured as a joint venture company owned by Infront (49%) and the CBA (51%), in which are vested all commercial rights of the CBA League and clubs (except club title & gate) for seven years, with options for a further five years.

 

Infront’s first moves are already having a beneficial impact. Court layout has been changed, giving each team its own identity, but within guidelines that are consistent throughout the League. Fans are being rewarded with many new facilities and services, including better seating, ushers, cheerleader training, new music, new choreography and outfits, revitalising presentation and delivering a much more enjoyable basketball experience.

 

Infront has also focused heavily on improving services to the media. By creating better working conditions both on the court and throughout the arenas, Infront has helped improve the overall exposure levels throughout all media channels. Infront is also working on further developing a very comprehensive and exciting new media platform, which amongst others will include such features as live video streaming and e-games.

 

CBA Sponsors are also benefiting from the installation of Space & Time, the leading standard in rotating advertising systems, which has been installed at all CBA Arenas.

 

The CBA League is an exciting marketing opportunity for sponsors, offering the prospect of equal treatment for all sponsors without the dominance of an overall title sponsor.
