German Football Association - DFB

The DFB is one of Infront's major clients, based on a close working relationship that dates back almost 30 years. This is the longest contractual period ever between the DFB and its marketing partner.

Football is unchallenged as the top sport in Germany as well as in Europe. It is one of the world’s great football nations and one of a very exclusive group to have won the FIFA World Cup three times (as West Germany).

Infront markets the DFB inventory as a premium football package, consisting of international "A" team matches as well as DFB Cup matches.

On board with Germany's National Teams
The agreement in respect of Germany’s national football teams covers all stadium advertising rights to all home matches played by the German "A" team; the women’s national team and three men’s youth teams – Under-21, Under-20 and Under-19. It also includes those away matches of the men’s and the women’s A team where the DFB owns the rights.

This is the only perimeter advertising platform offering the live broadcast matches of the DFB, with consistent advertising exposure throughout the whole year. The games make a strong impact, using computer-controlled advertising in an almost advertising-free environment.

Companies also enjoy an enhanced market presence with support measures such as hospitality, advertising in programme guides and ads on scoreboard panels.

A new marketing hierarchy for the DFB Cup
The DFB Cup is an elimination tournament held annually. It is the second most important national title in German football after the Bundesliga championship.

Infront has a central role, handling all stadium advertising rights for all games. From 2009/2010 onwards, all 63 games of the competition will be covered live (eight matches on ARD/ZDF and the remaining matches on Premiere) and all the rights managed from one central source.

The DFB Cup’s new marketing hierarchy has just four TOP partners and also a restricted number of board advertising packages, increasing the share of impact for each package. As well as advertising boards and other forms of exposure in camera view, TOP partners enjoy access to a comprehensive rights package, including first right of negotiation for television presenting sponsorship, as well as on site promotional rights and many other opportunities. Each TOP partner will also be granted exclusivity throughout the entire competition in their respective product category.

The DFB Cup dates back to 1935. Today it is amongst the most popular cup competitions in European football. The competition begins with a round of 64 teams. The 36 teams of the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga, along with the top four finishers of the 3rd Liga, are automatically qualified for the tournament. Of the remaining slots, 21 are given to the cup winners of the regional football associations. The three remaining places are given to three the regional associations with the most men's teams. After five rounds have been played, the final is traditionally held in the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
