A DAZZLING SCHEDULE OF WORLD CLASS SKIING

Infront Sports & Media, as the commercial partner of most national skiing federations hosting FIS World Cup races, manages the media and/or marketing rights of more than 90% of the FIS World Cup events. This ensures effective co-ordination of television coverage and high broadcasting standards.

“FIS welcomes Infront’s more exclusive approach to providing value to a limited number of sponsors. This is an important and carefully-considered move forward, which will further strengthen the image of the FIS Alpine World Cup. We have also been working with Infront on a separate ‘optimisation’ project, designed to fine-tune the series’ promotional activities and further increase the standard of event organisation for the benefit of the National Ski Associations, athletes, fans, and media amongst others.”
Gian Franco Kasper, President of the FIS

Premier competitions in skiing
The FIS World Cup events are the premier competitions in skiing, leaving to one side the unique role of the Winter Olympic Games. It is considered by many to be the most valuable title, as it requires a competitor to ski at an extremely high level in the respective disciplines throughout the season and not just in one race. The sport is seen as healthy, clean and challenging; great television action for broadcasters and a great promotional platform for sponsors.

The 2009/2010 FIS Alpine World Cup races are held between October and March, covering 25 ski resorts across 12 countries: Austria - Canada - Croatia - Finland - France - Germany – Italy - Norway - Slovenia - Sweden – Switzerland and USA. With five disciplines in total – Downhill, Super G, Giant Slalom, Slalom and Super Combined - the FIS World Cup events deliver a fantastic level of competition.

Extensive Broadcast Coverage
In the 2008/2009 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, 40 of the most prestigious and important races were handled by Infront. These races generated over 1,100 hours of broadcast time, 800 hours of which were live. They were broadcast across 62 television stations, with a cumulative television audience of 1.3 billion. The majority of the FIS skiing events television audience is aged between 40 and 45 years old.

Streamlined partnership structure
Infront is in the unique position of being able to market the majority of races in the FIS World Cup. To ensure maximum exposure, the number of event sponsors per race is capped at seven - plus FIS Partners in the title and data/timing categories. A stylish venue communication concept is being implemented, producing a cohesive look and feel for the competition and increasing the brand impact for all sponsors involved.

The sponsors may choose from five different packages – Bib, Start area, Course area, Cascade area (section just before the finish line) or Finish area. Advertising in camera view depends on the package selected and is exclusive within the course section booked (two partners in Finish area). All packages also include:

  • Logo placement on interview backdrop, in VIP lounge/ hotels and on all event related print materials
  • Advertising in the official programme, on the event website and on the maxi screen in the finish area
  • On-site product promotion activities
  • Access to VIP and hospitality areas

The recently streamlined marketing programme has resulted in revenue increases from existing clients as well as new prospects. Existing sponsors - such as Colmar, Helvetia, Rauch and Remax - have been joined by Emmi, a leading Swiss dairy company, with a multi year package which ranks as the biggest FIS World Cup sponsorship deal arranged by Infront to date, excluding title sponsor.
