2011 CEV EUROPEAN VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Fast, exciting and increasingly popular volleyball appeals to both male and female fans - attracted to the competitive spirit of the game. The CEV European Volleyball Championships benefit from record media coverage as the competition goes from strength to strength.

Always in style

Volleyball is fast, exciting and ever more popular. It receives high levels of media coverage with the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV) European Championship premier events taking place biannually.

 

CEV and Infront – partners since 1993

Infront's relationship with volleyball started in 1993. The Italian subsidiary of the Swiss-based sports marketing group, Infront Italy is responsible for marketing the worldwide media rights of the biannual CEV European Championships. 

 

Biannual event schedule

In 2009, there were 16 teams from Europe’s top volleyball nations competing for the title in the Men’s Championships - the matches took place in Turkey. The female event followed with 16 teams competing at the CEV Women’s Championships held in Poland.

 

Austria and the Czech Republic will host the next CEV Men’s European Championship from the 10-18 September 2011.  Qualified countries include: Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, France, Bulgaria, Russia, Serbia, Estonia, Slovenia, Finland, Slovakia, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium and Turkey.

The next CEV Women's European Championship is to be held in Serbia and Italy, 22 September - 2 October 2011.  Teams qualified include - Italy, Serbia, Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Turkey, Russia, France, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Spain, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Israel.

 

Extensive broadcast coverage

In 2009 the distribution of the media rights for both the Men’s and Women’s Championships were highly successful. Altogether, Infront secured agreements with almost 30 broadcasters reaching close to 90 countries throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. Over 75% of the matches shown were live with the women’s championships accumulating over 811 hours of broadcast time and the men’s 892 hours.

 

In addition, there were high levels of news interest. Live coverage was available on the Internet through the worldwide online gaming entertainment platform bwin.com and LAOLA1.tv in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

 

State-of-the-art production

Throughout its involvement with the CEV events, Infront invests in the quality of the television coverage produced by providing a framework for a state-of-the-art host broadcast production. Supervising all aspects of the broadcast in collaboration with the chosen networks in each host country – the production specification includes more than ten cameras in each arena and for each game. In addition to filming and transmitting a high-quality signal, Infront supports broadcasters in their unilateral production, transmission as well as commentary facilities and services.
