Tre Kronor keeps Sweden on top

Sweden is one of the world’s leading ice hockey nations – currently ranked as no 1 in the world by the IIHF

The Swedish national men's team is known as Tre Kronor after the three crowns they have worn on their jerseys since 1938. Sweden has won the annual IIHF World Championships eight times to date, in 1953, 1957, 1962, 1987, 1991, 1992, 1998 and in 2006, plus Olympic Gold medals in 1994 and in the last Winter Olympics in Turin 2006. The Tre Kronor are the first Ice Hockey team ever to win both the IIHF World Championship and Olympic Gold in the same year. Sweden also has many top-ranked players in the NHL, such as Peter Forsberg, Mats Sundin, Daniel Alfredsson and Nicklas Lidström who plays for Detroit and has been elected best defenseman in NHL a number of times.

Infront’s association with this successful ice hockey nation runs for six years, with an option to renew further.  It is global in scope and covers all marketing rights for all national youth teams, the ladies team and the Tre Kronor, as well as for events belonging to SIF.

The project is the first major sports marketing contract for Infront Sweden, as part of the Infront Group. It builds on an existing collaboration with SIF in the area of hospitality. Infront is working closely with SIF to further develop ice hockey in Sweden and create a strong financial base for the sport, so that SIF can maintain its leading position in ice hockey.
