The Role of Infront

Infront has handled the global sales of all broadcast rights for the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ in Germany and is also responsible for the host broadcast and the broadcaster servicing. The FIFA World Cup™ has the biggest television audience of any sports event in the world. For 2006, coverage reached more than 200 countries and territories. More than 500 broadcast partners transmitted the event.

More Choice than ever before

The Role of Infront - 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™

In response to the changes that have taken place in the television market over the past four years, Infront made sure that viewers of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ enjoyed more choice than ever before, through a greater variety of viewing windows. These included not only free-to-air television, but Pay TV, cable and satellite, the Internet and mobile phones.

Infront delivered significant increases in hours of coverage, number of broadcast partners and audiences. These improvements were attributable to its “open market” sales policy, which gave all categories of broadcaster access to the event, reflecting the reality of competition in the television market and the growth of viewing options.

The 2006 FIFA World Cup™ was the first major international sports event to commit fully to High Definition Television, with all 64 matches both covered and broadcast on HDTV. More information on HDTV

Continuing our relationship with FIFA post 2006

In recognition of its outstanding achievements, Infront has been appointed to handle the host broadcast of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in South Africa and will also be distributing the broadcast rights in Asia, though a joint-venture with Japanese advertising agency group Dentsu.
