Team China Basketball attracts new major sponsor brand in the lead-up to 2012 London Olympics

Infront seals agreement with Würth, the worldwide hardware wholesaler, as official sponsor of upcoming TCB events

Beijing, China/Zug, Switzerland – Infront Sports & Media the exclusive global marketing partner of Team China Basketball has secured worldwide hardware wholesaler Würth as Official Sponsor of the team up to and including 2014. The agreement provides a comprehensive presence for the company throughout all upcoming preparation games in China, which are to be played against a selection of top level players from the USA in May as well as against the Croatian, Serbian and Montenegrin national teams in June. In addition, the team will play a series of away games in Australia from 5 to 13 June and another set of games in Poland from 20 to 23 July, in preparation for the London Olympics.

Exclusive platform for comprehensive brand exposure in key market

As a major worldwide wholesaler, Würth has a full history of sports sponsorship involvement - in the past having been involved with winter sports, football and car racing amongst others. The opportunity with Team China Basketball provides an entry point into a key sales market for the group with product category exclusivity amongst a comprehensive package of rights that guarantees a strong presence at the games. Rights include exposure in camera view such as advertising on rotating boards and other on-site branding and activities, logo integration on all print materials and website, promotional, PR and hospitality activities, the right to use Team China images, logo and designation for promotional purposes as well as additional opportunities for franchising. 

Joining a line-up of major brands

With the popularity of basketball in China continuing to soar as the country’s number one sport, the media coverage year on year is consistently magnifying the value of the platform. Infront China and CCTV Sports & Entertainment (CCTVSE) have a strategic partnership in order to support the television coverage of the games. A total of 12 home games for the men’s team are produced per year. In 2011 the men’s team achieved a cumulative figure of 51 million and 39 million for live broadcasts.

Mr. Hu also said that in the next six years, Chinese Men’s Basketball Team will be put in test in a lot of important events, including two Olympic Games, two World Championships. The Team will also be competing for Asian Games and Asia Championships.
