Zug, Switzerland / Monaco – Infront Sports & Media, media rights advisor to the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) for the Ironman and Ironman 70.3 endurance triathlon races, has successfully distributed the first ever Ironman magazine program – jointly offered together with the WTC – in over 115 countries. The season was highlighted last week-end by the 2012 Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. The only official broadcast show of the event – a one hour season highlight episode – will be available to broadcast partners on 19 October 2012.
On behalf of the WTC and Infront, 14x26 magazine programs have been produced by Host Broadcast Services (HBS), the world’s leading specialist host broadcaster and Infront’s wholly-owned subsidiary. The company contributed its extensive experience in media production for major sports events, creating a series of television magazine programs of the highest quality continuously throughout the season.
Covering highlights from the Ironman race calendar events, the magazine programming offers approximately 50 per cent race footage as well as results and standings, information on the event location, insight into training sessions, athlete profiles and background coverage – all with English commentary. The series transmits the unique features of the sport, whilst tailoring the long-term endurance format as an attractive, coherent HD broadcast product.
The core Ironman series takes place around the globe starting in April and leading up to the World Championship Finals in Kona, Hawaii each October. The magazine programming features most of the European races, including amongst others the Ironman France, Ironman Austria and the Ironman European Championship.
Planning for the 2013 edition of the Ironman series is already under way. While the main season starts with the Asia-Pacific Championships on 24 March 2013 in Melbourne, Australia, the European/South Africa season launches with the Ironman South Africa Nelson Mandela Bay on 14 April 2013.
Yesterday, the 2012 Ironman season ending promotional trailer has been awarded the Sportel Golden Podium Awards in the category “L'Equipe.fr Public Prize for the Best Sport Slow Motion of the year (Cut-Edited Shots)”. The award ceremony took place at the Grimaldi Forum (Monaco) under the patronage of H.S.H.
