Corporate running series set for largest event of the year
Munich, Germany — Around 30,000 participants from over 1,500 companies will gather in Munich today (Tuesday) for the biggest B2Run event of the 2018 season. The race, which features a 6.1 km long course and is once again sold out, will start from Coubertinplatz at the Olympic Park at 18.00.
Pre-race entertainment begins at 15.00 with two-time Olympic champion and 12-time world champion Magdalena Neuner running alongside participants and supporting the teams.
The finish line will once again be in the stunning Olympiastadion, providing a fitting finale for all the participants successfully completing the run. Additionally, all finishers will get a medal and a downloadable online certificate.
Growing since 2004
The running series, and especially the race in Munich, have experienced a significant growth over the past few years. The first run took place in 2004 and saw 2,500 employees take part, with participant numbers increasing by approximately 1,200% since then. Since 2008, the Munich event has been sold out every year.
This is a clear indication that top brands believe corporate runs are key to improving employee satisfaction and team spirit within the company, helping retain talent.
B2Run taps social into media with JobRad
Through a dedicated social media contest, B2Run and its partner JobRad are inviting participants to share their best B2Run moments on Facebook and Instagram, using the hashtags "#gemeinsamaktiv" and "#jobrad". All participants entering the contest will get the chance to win one of five Cube bicycles worth EUR 1,000.
Top partners with effective activations
Several other activities and activations will be held on-site by B2Run Munich's main partners, making the pre- and post- event enjoyable for the runners.
DAK will be onsite with its DAK-Lounge, providing fit-massages and kinesio taping, ERDINGER and Brohler will provide runners with isotonic drinks and mineral water respectively and ALDI Süd will ensure finishers enjoy fresh fruit at the finish line. Testing of compression wear and advice on running shoes will also be available through CEP and Runners Point.
The Pit Fit mascot will join the party as well, entertaining fans and spectators at the start and finish lines inside the stadium.

Net zero carbon footprint
On Wednesday, a joint press conference with B2Run and its partner energy provider E.ON will be held in Nürnberg to present the sold out event set to take place on 24 July in the Bavarian city. It also provides an opportunity to discuss the latest developments on the neutral climate approach that B2Run and E.ON have worked on over the last two years.
The aim of the joint-environmental commitment is to reduce CO2 emissions and offset CO2 released through selected climate protection projects in Mali and Costa Rica. For the second year in a row, B2Run achieved a net zero carbon footprint for the entire series thanks to its collaboration with E.ON
During the 2017 season, over 1,800 tonnes of CO2 were offset. This is equivalent of 1.5 times the volume of the Reichstag building in Berlin.
B2Run, an Infront company, is Europe’s largest corporate running series and has recorded significant growth since it was founded in 2004. In 2018, the 6km runs will be held in German, Swiss, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish, Dutch, Polish and South African cities with up to 40 separate events planned and around 230,000 people taking part in a B2Run each year, offering companies attractive platforms for unique employee events. In Germany, the country where it originated, B2Run is the fastest-growing and largest running series, targeting a record attendance of approximately 195,000 participants from over 9,500 companies with 17 events in 2018.
