Zug, Switzerland, 9 September 2011 – As media rights partner of the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball, Infront Sports & Media has secured extensive agreements to deliver broadcast coverage of the 2011 CEV European Volleyball Championship to fans worldwide. The men’s tournament takes place from 10 to 18 September in the Czech Republic (Prague, Karlovy Vary) and Austria (Vienna, Innsbruck) and the women’s event follows from 23 September to 2 October 2011 in Italy (Monza, Busto Arsizio) and Serbia (Belgrade, Zrenjanin). For the latter, Infront has also been appointed to handle the marketing – securing a top level sponsorship inventory for the event.

Infront handles the marketing of the worldwide media rights for the bi-annual CEV European Championship through its Milan-based subsidiary Infront Italy. For this year’s events, it has secured agreements with over 30 broadcasters in more than 100 territories worldwide. Most licensees will provide live, delayed and news coverage across television and online platforms depending on the time zones and broadcaster schedules.

Infront is supervising all aspects of the host broadcast in collaboration with the chosen networks in each host country – namely ORF (Austria) and Czech TV (Czech Republic) for the men’s tournament and RAI (Italy) and RTS (Serbia) for the women’s. The production specification includes more than ten cameras in each arena for each game. In addition to coordinating the provision of a high-quality TV signal, Infront supports broadcasters in their unilateral production, transmission as well as commentary facilities and services.

Extensive media coverage year after year
The 2009 event provided excellent levels of coverage and strong audience figures worldwide - both the men’s and women’s Championship were highly successful. Over 75% of the matches shown were live with the women’s championships accumulating over 811 hours of broadcast time and the men’s 892 hours. The cumulative television audience for the men’s and women’s events combined in 2009 reached almost 143 million. This year’s coverage is predicted to deliver another success story increasing levels of exposure from the previous event both in terms of reach and broadcast hours.

Local knowledge secures sponsor partners

In addition to the distribution of media rights for the Championship, Infront was appointed by the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV) to handle the sponsorship marketing of the women’s event this year in Italy and Serbia – taking advantage of its previous experience. In 2010 Infront was marketing partner for the FIVB Men’s World Volleyball Championship in Italy and therefore is in an ideal position to market another leading international Volleyball event in the country. As a result, Infront has secured agreements with strong Italian brands - Top Sponsors include Intesa Sanpaolo (banking) and Enel (energy) along with Official Sponsor San Carlo (chips and snacks). Additionally, there are two Media Partners - RDS (radio) and Corriere dello Sport (sport newspaper). The tournament is also supported by the Official CEV Partners – Mikasa (volleyballs), Champion (sports apparel) and Gerflor (vinyl flooring).

Sponsors will benefit from extensive brand visibility as a result of their involvement in the competitions. Furthermore, they can take advantage of attractive corporate hospitality providing the opportunity to engage clients at the very heart of the event.
