Infront concludes another key Bundesliga agreement

24.04.03 -- Infront Buli GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Infront Holding AG, confirmed another important agreement concerning broadcast coverage of the German Football Bundesliga.

Munich, Germany, 24 April 2003 -- Infront Buli GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Infront Holding AG, confirmed another important agreement concerning broadcast coverage of the German Football Bundesliga.

Infront Buli GmbH reached an agreement with KarstadtQuelle New Media AG and EM.TV & Merchandising AG for a wide-ranging Bundesliga package. This agreement is effective upon the completion of the final acquisition of DSF through KarstadtQuelle New Media AG, the sports investor Dr. h.c. Hans-Dieter Cleven, as well as EM.TV, which also intends to participate in this consortium.

The agreement covers the 2003/2004 season and also includes an automatic prolongation for two further seasons in the event that Infront excercises its existing contractual option to extend its current agreement with the German Football League (DFL) through this same period.

The package includes the exclusive free-TV right to broadcast one live match from the 2nd Division per week on Mondays, combined with an exclusive window for highlights for other 2nd Division matches. The agreement also provides DSF with non-exclusive highlight rights to the 1st Division. The rights are consistent to those held previously by DSF, once again ensuring that the Bundesliga remains one of Europe's most widely viewed professional leagues in its home market.

"The German broadcast market is beginning to see some stability following the collapse of KirchMedia last year. This allows broadcasters like DSF to begin focusing their content strategies, which will ultimately define their future position in the market. The commitment to the Bundesliga further confirms to us that the Bundesliga remains 'priority number one' when it comes to sports content on German television," said Oscar Frei, CEO of Infronts Sports & Media AG.
