27.06.03 -- The Infront Sports & Media Group has reached agreement with ARD, the national public broadcaster, for the broadcast rights to Saturday highlights of the first division of the Bundesliga .

Zug, Switzerland, 27 June, 2003: The Infront Sports & Media Group has reached agreement with ARD, the national public broadcaster, for the broadcast rights to Saturday highlights of the first division of the Bundesliga  (the German Football League). 

 

The ARD agreement commences with the upcoming 2003/2004 season and includes an option for two further seasons. It includes highlights of seven matches on Saturdays after 6:15 pm, as well as rights to two live matches - a kick-off match at the start of the season and a kick-off match at mid season, after the winter break. 

 

The agreement with Germany's longest established free-to-air broadcaster will play a key role in promoting ARD's well known programme "Sportschau", as the Bundesliga coverage will be able to claim a central role in the weekly programme.

 

Infront's President and CEO, Oscar Frei, said, "This will ensure a broad mix of viewing opportunities for fans in Germany. The Bundesliga will receive wide exposure, which is good news for both sponsors and football fans. Exposure is the lifeblood of sport and we believe that we have been able to get the balance right, after some long and complex negotiations with Germany's broadcasters."
